Dr Renu Misra was amongst the first Indian gynecologist to receive formal training in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery abroad for one year. After her training in UK, she returned to India and joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences and set up the facility for endoscopic surgery in the department of Gynecology.

Dr Renu Misra organized the first live surgery workshop at AIIMS in 1995 for the exposure and training of gynecologists in India. Since then, she regularly conducts workshops to provide hands-on training to gynecologists. Later, she had the opportunity to set up endoscopic surgery in Mafraq Hoapital, a tertiary care hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The procedures which can be performed by laparoscopic surgery are as follows:

  • Removal of ovarian cysts
  • Removal of fibroids
  • Procedures to enhance fertility
  • Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis
  • Treatment of tubal (ectopic) pregnancy
  • Removal of uterus

Hysteroscopic surgeries include:

  • Removal of polyps
  • Removal of fibroids
  • Removal of a septum
  • Removal of adhesions in the uterus
  • Tubal catheterization to open blocked tubes

Dr. Renu Misra has a large experience in treatment of infertility which includes medical treatment, endoscopic and open surgery if required, and IVF (test tube baby).
